Maria Popova
Founder, Brain Pickings

If you don't follow @brainpicker, you're doing it wrong. At least that's a philosophy hundreds of thousands of people on the internet have bought into. And we agree wholeheartedly. Maria is the ultimate curator of interestingness, spanning art, science, design, history, philosophy, psychology, and more. In addition to writing and editing Brain Pickings, she has managed to squeeze in an MIT fellowship and a few bylines for Wired, The Atlantic, The New York Times, and Smithsonian, among others. We promise a chat with Maria will be incredibly interesting, inspiring and educational-- but it may also lead to the realization that you don't get nearly enough done in a day. Luckily you'll feel better once you realize sessions with Maria will benefit the Joyful Heart Foundation.

Storytelling
Actress and advocate Mariska Hargitay founded the Joyful Heart Foundation in 2004 with the intention of helping survivors heal and reclaim their lives. Joyful Heart's vision is a community that is empowered with knowledge, courage and compassion to help survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence and child abuse heal mind, body and spirit; values and dedicates resources to individuals and families that have been affected by these issues; and seeks to ignite and foster an open dialogue about how to collaboratively end the cycle of violence and abuse.
